STANDARD PROJECTS
The projects of non-oriented research, the core activity of the GACR.Goals:
To promote excellence in basic research
Eligibility Requirements:
Scientists of any discipline who are working at Czech research institution; topic of research is chosen by an applicant
Requirements:
High scientific quality, originality and innovation
Funding Duration:
Up to 5 years

34 000 € per year

POST-DOCTORAL PROJECTS
Single researcher non-oriented projects established in 1997 as “starting” grant projects for graduates of doctoral studies.Goals:
To increase the interest of graduates of doctoral studies at work in institutions with a high professional level and to contribute to alleviating problems associated with their salaries
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants of any discipline within 4 years following their doctoral defence; topic of research is chosen by an applicant
Requirements:
High scientific quality, originality and innovation
Funding Duration:
Up to 3 years

International
EUROCORES
European Collaborative Research Programmes established in 2002 by the European Science Foundation (ESF)Goals:
To create conditions for financing basic research at a pan-European level and to coordinate the choice of topical scientific subjects on a supra-national principle
Eligibility Requirements:
Only for funding organizations (the GACR within the Czech Republic) that are participating in a EUROCORES Programme - EUROCORES Funding Agencies (EFAs)
Requirements:
High scientific quality, novelty, added value, interdisciplinary cutting edge themes
Funding Duration:
Up to 36 months
Start: July
Call for proposals:
- only for the selected themes
- published yearly
- the ESF deadline in April/May
- the GACR deadline in May/June
National (by the EFA) but ‘networked’ internationally

Based on an international peer review process and the GACR position

BILATERAL GRANT PROJECTS
- cooperation between the GACR and the DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft)
- cooperation between the GACR and the KRF (Korea Research Foundation)
- cooperation between the GACR and the NSC (National Science Council of Taiwan)
Goals:To support joint projects allowing for participation of scientific teams from both countries in international cooperation in the framework of interdisciplinary and promising topics and the directions of contemporary science
Eligibility Requirements:
Based on the Memorandum of Understanding of Scientific Cooperation with the DFG and the KRF; scientists of any discipline who are working at Czech research institution; topic of research is chosen by an applicant
Requirements:
Complementary approach, high scientific quality, novelty, added value
Funding Duration:
Up to 3 years
Start: January
Funding:
Each funding organisation funds the part of the bilateral project within its own country
Call for proposals:
- published yearly
- deadline in April
Based on a peer review process; the final decision on the funding of the bilateral research proposal will depend on final approval from both research funding organizations (DFG, KRF respectively)

EURYI
The programme established from the initiative of the EuroHORCs (European Head of Research Councils) and the ESF (European Science Foundation) for young scientists to pursue their careers in EuropeEligibility Requirements:
Researchers from anywhere in the world who are between 2 and 8 years after receiving their PhD at the closing date of the call and are expected to have an excellent research record and to show the potential to become world-class leaders in their areas of research
Goals:
To attract outstanding young researchers, from all over the world, to work in Europe for the further development of European science, contributing to the building up of the next generation of leading European researchers
Requirements:
High scientific quality (groundbreaking character), originality, quality of the host institution
Funding Duration:
5 years

1 000 k€ per award
